The search was held done in 5 (five) stages. In the stage 1 was identified the month with major occurrence of leak in the period of May 2006 at Abril 2007, for detailing of the occurrences (local, diameter of the net and occurrence time of each leak) in the second phase. After it was estimated the flow (phase 3) and the volume lost (phase 4) in the net of water distribution of the 3rd sector. Finally in the phase 5 was estimated the losses of billing and electric energy. The results obtained show the necessities of deployment of a programme of reduction of losses in the net of water distribution of the 3rd sector. The greater volume of lost water occurred in the month of November 2006, causing loss of turnover of R$ 20.906,32 corresponding to the volume of 14.933,08 m3 and the electric energy on the value of R$477,80 correspond at 2.389,93kWh. With the work was possible see that the leaks in the net of water distribution of the 3rd sector damage the system performance and the revenue of the company. Análise da estimativa de perdas de faturamento e de energia elétrica em decorrência de vazamento na rede de distribuição de água do 3º setor, gerenciado pela Companhia de Saneamento do Pará(COSANPA) na Região Metropolitana de Belém (RMB). A pesquisa foi realizada em 5(cinco) fases. Na fase 1 foi identificado o mês com maior ocorrência de vazamento no período de maio 2006 a abril de 2007, para detalhamento dessas ocorrências(local, diâmetro da rede e tempo de ocorrência de cada vazamento) na fase 2. Em seguida foram estimadas as vazões(fase 3) e os volumes perdidos(fase 4) na rede de distribuição de água do 3º setor. Finalmente na fase 5 foram estimadas as perdas de faturamento e de energia elétrica. Os resultados obtidos demonstram a necessidade de implantação de um programa de redução de perdas na rede de distribuição de água do 3º setor. O maior volume de água perdido ocorreu no mês de novembro de 2006, ocasionando perdas de faturamento de R$ 20.906,32 correspondente ao volume de 14.933,08 m3 e de energia elétrica no valor de R$ 477,80 corresponde a 2.389,93kWh.
