Beggining from the paths followed, we will find the construction of the bureaucratic machine and the acting pattern of these two institutions in colonial Amazon, without loosing the individuality of the agents out of sight, highlighting the use of the condition and privileges of the cleric and members of the bureaucratic inquisitorial body. Este trabalho discute a trajetória de um grupo de indivíduos que tem em comum serem padres e funcionários do Santo Ofício no contexto do Estado do Maranhão e Grão-Pará setecentista. Partindo das trajetórias, evidenciaremos a edificação da máquina burocrática e o modo de atuação destas duas instituições na Amazônia colonial.
