Analysis oft he avifauna of savannas, second growth vegetation and mangroves of the municipality of Vigia in eastern Pará state. The research work was done in December 1972, April and May 1973 and 1974, and June 1990. The visited savannas are known locally by the names of Caimbé, Palha, São Benedito and Novo Horizonte. The second growth vegetation located in Santa Rosa village were near the Caimbé savanna. The mangrove visited located on the proximity of town of São Caetano de Odivelas and the Furo Tajapuru stream near the coast. A list is presented of birds species observed and collected with data on date, locality, habitat, relative abundance, sex, gonadal development, stomach contents (some specimens) and color ofsoft parts. We conclude that the savanna is a primary
formation. The second growth vegetation is a stage of forest succession and the mangrove is an edaphic climax. |
