Resumo:
The diversity and distribution of termites were studied in the Amazon National Park, between environments of primary forest and open areas. We found a total of three families, 18 genera and 42 species. Six of the genera found were collected in the forest and also in cages, 10 were only found in the forest and one was exclusive to poultry. The genre that had the largest number of species was Nasutitermes, with 13 species, 8 the density of nests was greater in open areas. The diversity of termites in the park seems to be too large, as possibly the is throughout the Amazon, which is still little studied. At least should not be lower than a study area near Bryan, state of Amazonas.
