So electronic edition of “Reflections on Conservation Biology” appeared, here in its first volume. The choice of topics covered was made collectively by the students in the classroom, for electing their main concerns and the development of the theme was premised on the reflection individual on a subject that was new to the field of knowledge of each author. In this way, it was also encouraged the ability to dialogue with different areas of knowledge. In these texts Topics are dealt with clearly and concisely so that they can be easily apprehended by society as a whole and inspire individual and collective efforts in the pursuit of sustainability and biodiversity conservation. A disciplina Biologia da conservação vem sendo ministrada para os cursos de Pós-graduação do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi desde 1997. Ao longo destes anos os estudantes têm produzido monografias e trabalhos de conclusão da disciplina atendendo ao circuito acadêmico. No 20o aniversário da disciplina surgiu a ideia de ultrapassar as “muralhas acadêmicas” e transformar estes trabalhos em artigos de divulgação, de forma a partilhar com a sociedade as reflexões produzidas em sala de aula, que apontam para vários temas inquietantes à sociedade como um todo e apresentar, à luz do conhecimento científico, ideias e sugestões que possam ampliar as ações para a conservar da biodiversidade e intensificar o debate entre academia e sociedade em relação a estes temas. Assim surgiu edição eletrônica de “Reflexões em Biologia da conservação”, aqui em seu primeiro volume. A escolha dos temas abordados foi feita coletivamente pelos alunos em sala, por eleger as suas principais preocupações e o desenvolvimento do tema teve como premissa a reflexão individual sobre um assunto que fosse novidade ao campo de conhecimento de cada autor. Desta forma foi estimulada também a capacidade a dialogar com áreas distintas de conhecimento.
