This study proposes an anthropological analysis of an aspect of the metropolitan Paraense handicraft, from the formation of an ethnographic collection, seeking to register the existing relationships between the material and non-material domains of the groups studied. The research aims at collecting and documenting the ceramic artifacts commercialized at Ver-o-Peso, a fair located at the margins of Guajará Bay, distributed in two sales points: in the boats and sidewalk of the Açaí fair and in what is known as the "ceramics and bugs fair" installed at the back of the Solar da Beira building. The ethnography elaborated registers the process of commercialization in these areas, as well as the pertinent social relations, verifying the resistance of this commerce despite the decadence that is due to social and economic issues. The processes of initiation and continuity in the ceramic commerce is done by kinship and from father to son. The documentary work was carried out from the identification, classification, and cataloging of the artifacts. The study employed museological techniques for the formation of the ethnographic collection and anthropological methodology. O estudo em questão da cerâmica popular está inserido no projeto "Coleções Etnográficas: Formação e Pesquisa Documental", coordenado por Lúcia Hussak van Velthem do Departamento de Ciências Humanas do Museu Goeldi. Esse estudo propõe-se a uma análise antropológica de um aspecto do artesanato metropolitano paraense, a partir da formação de uma coleção etnográfica, buscando registrar as relações existentes entre os domínios material e não material dos grupos estudados. A pesquisa objetiva a coleta e a documentação dos artefatos de cerâmica comercializados no Ver-o-Peso, feira situada às margens da baía do Guajará, distribuídos em dois pontos de venda: nas embarcações e calçadão da feira do Açaí e no que é conhecido como "feira de cerâmica e de bichos" instalado na parte posterior do prédio Solar da Beira. A etnografia elaborada registra o processo de constituição da comercialização nessas áreas bem como as relações sociais pertinentes, constatando a resistência desse comércio apesar da decadência que é decorrente de questões sociais e econômicas. Os processos de iniciação e continuidade ao comércio de cerâmica se dá por parentesco e de pai para filho. O trabalho documental realizou-se a partir da identificação, classificação e catalogação dos artefatos.
