Several species of the sub-tribe Cassiinae (Leguminosae-Caesalpinoideae), which are present in natural or uncharacterized coastal country ecosystems in eastern Pará State, are usually designated by the popular names "mangerioba" or "matapasto". Previously they were all identified as belonging to the genus Cassia L., however, they were transferred to the genus Senna Mill. The objective of this work was to survey and systematically review the various species. The study is focused on rural, ruderal and roadside formations located in the areas of Baixo Tocantins (municipalities of Moju and Igarapé-Miri) and Salgado (road axis BR-316/PA-170, municipalities of Santo Antônio do Tauá, Vigia, including the districts of Santa Rosa and Colares and São Caetano de Odivelas) where the most endangered non-forested ecosystems are located, interspersed with several populated areas where the Cassiinae (Senna, Chamaecrista and Cassia) of ethnobotanical interest occur. Initially shown as well known and used, according to surveys in the MG and IAN herbaria and collected material; Senna alata (L.) Roxburgh, S. hirsuta (L.) Irwin et Barneby, S. occidentalis (L.) Irwin et Barneby, S. obtusifolia (L.) Irwin et Barneby. Descriptions, separation key, ethnobotanical information and detailed illustrations of the most important species are presented.
