As part of the comparative studies of the floristic composition of "capoeiras" of different ages and with the same history of use, a vegetation survey was carried out in an agricultural area where traditional agriculture typical of the region is practiced. The area is located 20 km from the city of Bragança-PA; three capoeiras of different ages were systematically inventoried. In plots of 10mx10m all trees with DBH greater than 10cm were measured. In 5mX5m sub-plots, individuals with height greater than 1.5m and DBH less than 10cm were inventoried; and in smaller sub-plots, of 2mx2m, all seedlings with height between 30cm and 1.50m were counted. Preliminary results indicate a floristic composition of 73 species distributed among 62 genera and 30 families. The most species-rich family was Leguminosae "latu senso". Future more detailed analyses of the data will test the hypothesis that stands of different ages have diverse structure and floristic composition and that secondary vegetation from 10-12 years of age already have some potential for utilization and can provide alternative sources of income for small farmers. Com o objetivo de buscar alternativas de aproveitamento de espécies de capoeira (espécies madeiráveis e não madeiráveis) está sendo desenvolvido o projeto: Manejo Sustentado de Florestas Secundárias em Propriedades Rurais da Micro-Região Bragantina do qual faz parte esse trabalho. Como parte dos estudos comparativos da composição florística de capoeiras de diversas idades e com a mesma história de uso, foi realizado o levantamento da vegetação em uma área agrícola onde se pratica agricultura tradicional típica da região. A área localiza-se a 20Km da cidade de Bragança-PA; foram inventariadas de maneira sistemática três capoeiras de diferentes idades. Em parcelas de 10mx10m foram medidas todas as árvores com DAP maior que 10cm. Em sub-parcelas 5mX5m foram inventariados os indivíduos com altura superior a 1,5m e DAP inferior a 10cm; e em sub-parcelas menores, de 2mx2m, foram contados todas as mudas com altura entre 30cm e 1,50m. Os resultados preliminares indicam uma composição florística de 73 espécies distribuídas entre 62 gêneros e 30 famílias. A família mais rica em espécies foi: Leguminosae "latu senso".
