The work presents a survey of bibliographical information on archeological sites found in the municipalities of Prainha and Almeirim (Pará State). It considered as a source of data from the information contained in the reports of naturalists, travelers and missionaries of the first centuries of the conquest to the archeological research that is currently being developed in the region. This survey allowed us to identify and locate on a map 19 archaeological sites in the region that present traces of ceramics, lithics, rock art, and stone alignments. The largest concentration of sites appears along the Paru river and the engravings and cave paintings appear as the vestige most recorded in the literature. Based on this survey, the archeological potential of the municipalities of Prainha and Almeirim is evident and suggestions are made regarding the areas to be prioritized in the next stages of prospecting in the region. |
