The objective of this work is to contribute to the knowledge of the rock engravings in the south of Pará through its classification and comparison with the engravings of other sites already studied in the south of Pará. For this, we analyzed the rock carvings of two archeological sites - Lajeiro do Cadena I and Lajeiro do Cadena 11 - located in Conceição do Araguaia, south of Pará. The sites are located in a cerrado area which is a common environment in the center and south of the municipality. The analysis of the rock carvings was done through a typological study in which the following variables were considered: technique, shape and size. The results of this analysis were entered into a database in order to assist in the quantitative analysis of the drawings. As a result, it was observed that the sites Lajeiro do Cadena I and Lajeiro do Cadena II are characterized by their almost totality of pure graphs. Lajeiro do Cadena I is the site with the greatest number of graphs (327) distributed in 12 panels. The circle is the predominant theme among the pure graphs; animal representation is indicated in this site by two rows of footprints (possibly of rhea). Lajeiro do Cadena II presents a smaller number of graphs than the first, only 18. The most common themes are spirals and circles. Some themes found in the rock carvings from the analyzed sites were also identified in other sites located in the surrounding and neighboring areas, which allows us to infer that these carvings have a set of characteristics that approximate those already known in the state of Tocantins and the Midwest region. This evidence demonstrates the inexistence of any relationship between these engravings and those associated with the Amazonian Tradition which extends mainly along the left bank of the Amazon River. |
