Resumo:
We provide here the first documented records of the Tschudi’s Woodcreeper (Xiphorhynchus chunchotambo) for Brazil, all coming from a fairly small area in the southeastern corner of the State of Acre. Several individuals were observed and tape-recorded, and nine specimens were obtained from four different localities. The contrast of those new records with the literature showed that X. chunchotambo and the Ocellated Woodcreeper (X. ocellatus) occur in eastern Acre only within about 80 km of each other, without any signs of intergradation. This finding is consistent with previous studies that showed those two taxa to be very divergent genetically and phenotypically, therefore further supporting their treatment as separate species.
