The area consists of mangrove vegetation in the southern, central and northern portions of the island; hypersaline fields covered by herbaceous vegetation inside or near the mangroves; barrier formation in the interior of the island and restinga vegetation covering a large part of the sandy plain, in the northern, northeastern and western portions of the island. The present work deals with the survey of Ochnaceae species occurring in this area. The family Ochnaceae consists of about 400 species distributed in 30 genera of pantropical distribution. In Brazil, 120 species and 11 genera are found. For the study of the Ochnaceaeda APA, the vegetative and reproductive parts of all samples of the four species of the family occurring in the APAde Algodoal/Maiandeua herborized in the herbarium João Murça Pires, of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MG) were dissected. Through bibliographic reviews and collections identified by specialists, the differential characteristics of the taxa were confirmed and an identification key for the species occurring in the APA was assembled. Four species were found for the family, distributed in two genera: Ouratea racemiformis Ule, Ouratea microdonta (Dalz) Engl, Ouratea castaneifolia (De) Engl. and Sauvagesia erecta L. APA de Algodoal/Maiandeua localiza-se no município de Maracanã, litoral nordeste do estado do Pará, ocupando uma área de 385 ha, entre as coordenadas geográficas de 00°34'4/1 a 00°34'30/1 5 e 47°31'05/1 a 47°34'12/1 W. A área e constituída por vegetação de manguezal nas porções sul, centro e norte da ilha; campos hipersalinos cobertos por vegetação herbácea no interior ou próximo aos manguezais; formação barreira no interior da ilha e vegetação de restinga cobrindo grande parte da planície arenosa, na porção norte, nordeste e oeste da Ilha. O presente trabalho trata do levantamento das espécies de Ochnaceaeocorrentes na referida área. A família Ochnaceae é constituída por cerca de 400 espécies distribuídas em 30 gêneros de distribuição pantropical. No Brasil são encontradas 120 espécies e 11 gêneros. Para o estudo das Ochnaceaeda APA, foram dissecados as partes vegetativas e reprodutivas de todas as amostras das quatro espécies da família ocorrentes na APAde Algodoal/Maiandeua herborizadas no herbário João Murça Pires, do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MG). Através de revisões bibliográfica e coleções identificadas por especialistas foram confirmadas as características diferenciais dos táxons e montada uma chave de identificação para as espécies ocorrentes na APA.
