The fundamental objective of the research was to establish the cultural changes that occurred among the Timbira since the time when Nimuendajú studied them. The report presents a description of the area, analysis of the elements of acculturation pressure, list of some of the changes that occurred and a summary including hypotheses through which the stability of the Canela culture is explained. As the research is still in a preliminary phase, some points will only be clarified with greater precision later on. In addition, the text mentions that there is a group of young people in the two villages who want to know the world outside tribal life and want to learn to write and read Portuguese. Apresenta um relatório preliminar sobre as mudanças culturais dos índios Canelas, baseado nos dados fornecidos por Curt Nimuendajú em sua monografia "The Eastern Timbira". O objetivo fundamental da pesquisa foi o de fixar as mudanças culturais ocorridas entre os Timbira desde o tempo em que Nimuendajú os estudou. O relatório apresenta uma descrição da área, análise dos elementos de pressão aculturativa, relacionamento de algumas das mudanças ocorridas e um sumário incluindo hipóteses através das quais se explica a estabilidade da cultura Canela. Como a pesquisa se encontra ainda em fase preliminar, alguns pontos somente mais tarde poderão ser esclarecidos com maior precisão.
