Resumo:
The Emilio Goeldi Museum of Para has its origins in the Philomathic Association (Friends of Science), created by Domingos Soares Ferreira Penna on October 6, 1866. It is the first and most important center for scientific studies of the natural and sociocultural systems of the Amazon. Throughout its history, it has cataloged over 4.5 million items from various organisms in different parts of the vast Amazon region. This extraordinary collection is a worldwide reference on the Amazon biome, consisting of 19 collections subdivided into 40 subcollections related to the human, biological, social, and earth sciences. Through the "Scientific Collections of the Goeldi Museum" series, we will explore all this richness, learning a bit about each of these collections.
