Resumo:
In the last decades of the 19th century, the Amazon found itself immersed in a scenario of economic prosperity driven by the exploitation of natural resources, especially the vast rubber plantations discovered in the region, circumstances that attracted both national and foreign immigrants to the Amazon Valley, including Jews of Moroccan origin. This Jewish presence left marks both in the economy and in the society of the Amazon, influencing social dynamics, commercial practices, and the interaction between different cultural groups in the region. The present dissertation seeks to understand the strategies adopted by the Jewish community in Gurupá to ensure their permanence and achieve socioeconomic integration over time. The analysis is based on various primary sources, such as birth records, death records, and real estate documents, newspapers of the time available in the Digital Newspaper Library of the National Library, photographs, and regional history. This approach aims to unveil spaces and subjects that enrich Amazonian literature, contributing to a more diversified and sociocultural representation of the region.
