The Workshop “Science on the Amazon Coast: 20 years of the Coastal Studies Program of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi PEC/MPEG” represented a historical milestone of great importance, bringing together researchers from Brazilian and foreign institutions who work on the Brazilian coast to present their work, exchange experiences and debate current issues, with fellowship. The topics covered in the four lectures, such as: “The PEC/MPEG timeline”, active and passive knowledge, dynamics of natural and anthropic processes, biodiversity, conservation and anthropic interactions in the Brazilian coastal zone” brought current information and many reflections to guide the PEC’s actions, in order to value, conserve and improve the current conditions of the ecosystems and communities that make up environments that are substantial barriers to the maintenance of the continents.
