Resumo:
This study addresses the drum of the Ka'apor indigenous people, a Tupi-speaking people who live in the Alto Turiaçu Indigenous Land, Maranhão, Brazil. Using an ethnomusicological approach and based on a survey of ethnographic collections and ethnographic research, we seek to highlight the particularities of the Ka'apor drum and its performative aspects, in parallel with other membranophone instruments in other indigenous and quilombola contexts.
