The use of snuff , whether manufactured tobacco or paricá has quite widespread in the South and America can be seen, the hand of their maps , their largest area is in the Andean regions , chaquenses and Guyanese and there especially the Amazon Northwest.
As the spread of snuff use in the central Amazon basin , few data exist, among which the best known case is that of Maué . The subject is treated almost always very briefly and little is known Of the ceremonies accompanying snuff functions. There is therefore a lack of literature on the subject . Introducing this descriptive work on the ceremonies from a Carib tribe of forest the river Trumpets, do it with the intention to fill in part this gap. The transcript of indigenous terms for the mode, is included in Appendix H. |
