The subject is treated almost always very briefly and little is known Of the ceremonies accompanying snuff functions. There is therefore a lack of literature on the subject . Introducing this descriptive work on the ceremonies from a Carib tribe of forest the river Trumpets, do it with the intention to fill in part this gap. The transcript of indigenous terms for the mode, is included in Appendix H. O uso do rapé, seja ele fabricado de tabaco ou de paricá, tem difusão bastante ampla na América do SuL Como se pode observar, à mão de mapas respectivos, a sua maior área encontra-se nas regiões andinas, chaquenses e guianenses e, aí, especialmente, ao Noroeste da Amazônia. Quanto a difusão do uso de rapé na região central da bacia Amazônica, poucos dados existem, entre os quais o caso mais conhecido é o dos Maué. O assunto é tratado, quase sempre, mui resumidamente e pouco se sabe Das cerimônias que acompanham as funções de rapé. Existe, pois, uma certa falta de literatura sobre o assunto. Apresentando este trabalho descritivo sobre as cerimônias de entre uma tribo karib das florestas do rio Trombetas, faço-o com a intenção de preencher, em parte, esta lacuna.
