Resumo:
The Portal of Periodicals of CAPES was created to solve problems including costing and democratization of the access to the periodicals in Brazil. However, according to data collected in the CAPES Georeferenced Information System, there was a low use of the portal in the Northern Region of Brazil, and particularly in the Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology of Pará. This problematic inspired this research what aims to measure the technological appropriation of CAPES Journal Portal from the perception of professors -users from Institute regarding the tool as the determinants of Perceived Usefulness and Ease of Usage, proposed by Technology Acceptance Model. The model was chosen because of its maturity, tradition and simplicity. Case Study is used as methodology and Institute is being the research aim unit. The data collection was developed from online questionnaires made from variables proposed by TAM, and sent by e-mail to the professors. From the data collected it was possible to notice that professors consider the Portal a useful tool to meet their research interests. However, there is a significant percentage of professors with low or no use of the tool. And among those who use it, is perceived a difficulty of handling the system. The average of positive responses about the perception of Perceived Utility of the tool is higher than the average of responses about Ease of Use, even though the users professors perceive themselves as capable using this type of technology (self-efficacy). Considering that the perception registered consists of users better prepared in the institution, as conclusion it is possible that the Portal is perceived as a complex tool, then discourages new users or more frequency in its use therefore impairing the appropriation of this technology.
