The structure of the larva assembly is influenced by the mode and place of reproduction, as well as other biological aspects that influence the vertical distribution of aquatic organisms on a daily scale in different environments. In this context, the objective of this study was to investigate the variation of fish larvae assemblages in the diurnal and nocturnal periods at different moments of the hydrological cycle (flood, flood, ebb and dry) in a floodplain of Central Amazonia, verifying the influence. Of environmental and limnological parameters. Samples were obtained in diurnal and nocturnal collections in the limnetic region, in different periods of the hydrological cycle, in the years 2010-2011 in the várzea observed. Fish larvae were more abundant during the night, however, the different environmental and limnological variables did not present significant correlations. The use of Amazonian floodplains as nursery areas for numerous species of fish is emphasized, confirmed by the presence of the initial ontogenic stages in all the hydrological moments of the study. The daily movement of the larvae was observed during the seasonal changes, thus, the observed variation explains the majority of the variability, being the general behavior and pattern of fish larvae in environments of the Amazonian floodplains. Nos peixes, os estágios iniciais de vida são determinantes para sua sobrevivência. A estrutura da assembleia das larvas é influenciada pelo modo e local da reprodução, além de outros aspectos biológicos que influenciam a distribuição vertical de organismos aquáticos numa escala diária em diversos ambientes. Nesse contexto, objetivou-se com este estudo investigar a variação das assembleias de larvas de peixes, nos períodos diurno e noturno, em momentos distintos do ciclo hidrológico (enchente, cheia, vazante e seca), numa várzea da Amazônia Central, verificando a influência dos parâmetros ambientais e limnológicos. As amostras foram obtidas em coletas diurnas e noturnas na região limnética, em diferentes períodos do ciclo hidrológico, nos anos de 2010–2011 na várzea observada. As larvas de peixes obtiveram maior abundância durante a noite, contudo, as diferentes variáveis ambientais e limnológicas não apresentaram correlações significativas. Destaca-se o uso das várzeas amazônicas como áreas de berçário para inúmeras espécies de peixes, confirmado pela presença dos estágios ontogênicos iniciais em todos os momentos hidrológicos do estudo.
