The case study of the maintenance program from Tucuruí Hydroelectric Power Plant´s, Powerhouse I, Sulfur Hexafluoride Isolated Substations, with emphasys on the maintenance philosophy adopted, enabled a consistent and reliable evaluation about Time and Condition Based Maintenance combination manner. Research results sized the complexity and importance of the armored substations to Tucuruí Hydroelectric Power Plant´s generation availability index. Furthermore, the technical uniqueness of
the installation, as envisaged in this type of industry, lacked normative and technical approaches of the Brazilian electric sector, represented by specific drawings, diagrams and work systems. The quantitative analysis has shown a substantial reduction in the number of interventions. This phenomenon was caused by the implementation of predictive maintenance in the process of risk management. The study also shows a characterization of an organizational culture of excellence, permeating processes. The
ethical, environmental, social and valuation aspects of the people in the organization studied are strongly noted.
