BACKGROUND: Gout is an arthropathy caused by the deposition of crystals of sodium
monourate in joints as a result of hyperuricemia. Globally, it became the most common
inflammatory arthropathy among men, with a growing incidence. However, there is no data
about Pará - Brazil specifically.
OBJECTIVE: Describe the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients with Gout
in ambulatory follow-up at the Rheumatology Department of the Federal University of Pará
(UFPA).
METHODS: A cross-sectional observational study was performed with 33 patients with gout,
attended by the Rheumatology Service of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) at the
Fundação Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará (FSCM-PA). For the collection and storage of
the information, the MEDDIT® electronic medical record was used. The data collected were
tabulated and statistically described.
RESULTS: It was observed that there was a higher incidence in males, with a mean age of 58
years, being the most recurrent brown color. The general practitioner was responsible for most
of the first care, while the rheumatologist diagnosed 78% of the cases. The comorbiities most
associated to patients with gout diagnosis were Systemic arterial hypertension and Metabolic
Syndrome.
CONCLUSION: It was concluded that Gouty arthritis prevails in the region studied among
men, mulattos, married and over 40 years age. Variables such as alcohol consumption and a
Metabolic Syndrome have been shown to be associated with the incidence of pathology. The
therapeutic drug profile is based on the association between Alpurinol and Colchina. |
