Resumo:
This work has as objective identify which analyzes Archival Science is doing in relation to videogames, discussing characteristics that classify the games as archival document (or electronic / digital object), analyzing its insertion in a supposed process of records management. The paper also presents an evolution of the studies on the support and content of electronic games in Archival Science, identifying the main currents of analysis about this subject. Initially, an analysis of videogames as a cultural product and its influence in contemporary society was made. Subsequently, a brief history of the origin and evolution of video games and electronic games over the years was presented. In continuation, a historical study on contemporary Archival Science was made, focusing on the practices about Electronic Document Management and Digital Preservation. Discussing notions of Document, Archival Document, Digital / Electronic Archival Document and Videogame, analyzing the informational aspects contained in these media. Finally, a discussion about practical initiatives on videogames preservation in national and international level was made, showing the results obtained with the research and the potential of future research.
