INTRODUCTION: health education aims to develop people's knowledge about health
problems and to find solutions to solve them. It should be a process that brings together the
educator and the student, in which one knows the reality lived by the other, and it is necessary
to consider the cultural context in which the subject is inserted. In the context of
comprehensive health care for women, prenatal care should be organized to meet the real
needs of the pregnant population, using existing technical and scientific knowledge and the
most appropriate means and resources available for each case. OBJECTIVES: to describe
what the literature discusses about prenatal health education in the period from 2012 to 2016;
Carry out the survey of the scientific productions developed about prenatal health education in
the period from 2012 to 2016; And, synthesize the types of research by methodological
approach and main results obtained. METHODOLOGY: this is an Integrative Literature
Review (RIL). In order to select the material, the following publications were selected: Latin
American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), in the Virtual Health
Library (VHL), in April 2017; Nursing Database (BDENF) and Online System of Search and
Analysis of Medical Literature (MEDLINE), with the descriptors Health education; Prenatal
care, within the inclusion criteria: articles available in Portuguese language; in full; Which are
related to prenatal health education; Available in the respective databases mentioned above, in
fidelity to the established descriptors; In the period from 2012 to 2016. RESULTS: a
significant sample of productions on the subject was evidenced. The predominance of the
qualitative methodology was evident. It should be noted that the year 2015 appears with the
greatest number of publications and the year 2016 did not present any results in the search.
The results of the studies covered different aspects of prenatal health education, with
emphasis on caring for the woman and the fetus / newborn, risk assessment during pregnancy,
preparation for childbirth, guidance from professionals and Barriers. Significant results were
evidenced in relation to the practice of prenatal health education and it was observed that
there are still obstacles to health education, mainly regarding infrastructure, organization and
humanization in care. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: More qualification and investment are
needed in nursing professionals to improve prenatal care and proper care, so that aspects of
health education in the pregnancy-puerperal cycle can be seen with more emphasis. It is
suggested to carry out more studies aimed at deepening the theme, aiming at understanding
the perceptions of the process actors in their daily lives, women and professionals, to better
understand their experiences and reports. |
