The objective of the research was to diagnose the current situation of the state of preservation of the archive of the Pestalozzi foundation of Pará - CAEE Lourenço Filho, with the intention of verifying the conditions in which the documents are found, the resources and that of the storage place to propose an intervention and to initiate the document management of it, so that the information contained therein can be accessed. The diagnosis is an instrument used to verify possible problems in the archive both structure and collection that after the collection and analysis of data, are made proposals to be applied during the document management of the studied archive. The methodology used for data collection in this work was the visits In loco Where images were collected from the archive and their documents, interviews unstructured for more information on the operation and history of the institution, archive, and finally the data analysis. The diagnosis is paramount to know the reality of the files of the public and/or private instructions, it is through the diagnosis that we observe all their shortcomings. We conclude that to reverse the situation of this archive it is necessary that the intervention proposals be applied, and the implementation of archival policies in the institution, so that the document management can be implemented in it.
