The diagnosis is an instrument used to verify possible problems in the archive both structure and collection that after the collection and analysis of data, are made proposals to be applied during the document management of the studied archive. The methodology used for data collection in this work was the visits In loco Where images were collected from the archive and their documents, interviews unstructured for more information on the operation and history of the institution, archive, and finally the data analysis. The diagnosis is paramount to know the reality of the files of the public and/or private instructions, it is through the diagnosis that we observe all their shortcomings. We conclude that to reverse the situation of this archive it is necessary that the intervention proposals be applied, and the implementation of archival policies in the institution, so that the document management can be implemented in it. O desenvolvimento da pesquisa teve como objetivo diagnosticar a atual situação do estado de conservação do arquivo da Fundação Pestalozzi do Pará- CAEE Lourenço Filho, com a intenção de verificar as condições em que se encontra os documentos, os recursos humanos e o do local de armazenamento para propor uma intervenção e com isso dar início a gestão documental do mesmo , para que as informações ali contidas possam ser acessadas. O diagnóstico é um instrumento utilizado para verificar possíveis problemas no arquivo tanto estrutura quanto acervo que após a coleta e análise de dados, são feitas propostas para serem aplicadas durante a gestão documental do arquivo estudado. A metodologia utilizada para levantamento de dados neste trabalho foram as visitas in loco onde foram recolhidas imagens do arquivo e seus documentos, entrevistas não-estruturadas para maiores informações sobre o funcionamento e histórico da instituição, seu arquivo , e finalmente a análise de dados. O diagnóstico é primordial para se conhecer a realidade dos arquivos das instruções públicas e/ou privadas, é por intermédio do diagnóstico que observamos todos as suas deficiências.
