The research aimed to analyze how teachers of elementary school work with literary teaching in the classroom, and how the process of meaning of the experiences lived by students in their daily life from the literary practice worked by the teaching institution. Among the main findings of this research is the literary reading that enhances learning by promoting the widening of the individual and collective horizons in the social and cultural spheres, guaranteeing a critical and emancipatory formation. In that practice is important so that students can perceive literary reading as an instrument of pleasure, allowing them to explore other contexts, other people, other ideas, and, thus, can interact in the society in which they are inserted. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido a partir das pesquisas realizadas durante a prática de estágio em uma instituição municipal de educação infantil e fundamental do município de Igarapé-Miri no Estado do Pará, onde analisamos como se deu o processo de utilização da leitura literária na educação junto aos alunos do 7º ano na Escola Perciliano Tourão em Igarapé-Miri/PA. A pesquisa objetivou analisar como os professores do ensino fundamental atuam com o ensino literário em sala de aula, e como se deu o processo de significação das experiências vivenciadas pelos educandos em seu cotidiano a partir da prática literária trabalhada pela instituição de ensino. Entre os principais achados desta pesquisa se destaca a leitura literária potencializadora da aprendizagem promovendo o alargamento dos horizontes indivíduos e coletivos, no âmbito social e cultural, garantindo uma formação mais crítica e emancipadora.
