Throughout the interview with 5 (five) elderly people, such a mechanism was detected, questioning the informants about how they contextualize these expressions, from the information declared to confirm the common sense of each said, that resulted in the ratification of their assumptions. In this interpretative process, the presuppositions stand out in the foreground, and in the background the knowledge previously absorbed by the speakers and the way in which they make use of these expressions. With this, one arrives at the perspective that the dictates are used with indirect effect and the presuppositions detected in the sayings reflect not only the intention, but also the ideology from which the utterance was constructed. Then, the assumption becomes considered as a mechanism that allows to interpret what is present between the lines of dictations. Este artigo busca compreender como acontece o processo de interpretação dos ditados populares, procede com embasamento na teoria da Pressuposição de Ducrot (1987), tendo como objetivo realizar uma análise em torno dessas expressões, destacando seus respectivos pressupostos. Através da entrevista com 5 (cinco) idosos, detectou-se tal mecanismo, questionando os informantes sobre como contextualizam essas expressões, para a partir das informações declaradas confirmar o sentido comum de cada dito, que teve como resultado a ratificação de seus pressupostos. Nesse processo interpretativo, destacam-se em primeiro plano os pressupostos, e em segundo plano os conhecimentos previamente absorvidos pelos falantes e a maneira como eles fazem uso dessas expressões. Com isso, chega-se à perspectiva de que os ditados são utilizados com efeito de indireta e os pressupostos detectados nos ditos refletem não só a intenção, como também a ideologia a partir do qual o enunciado foi construído.
