We conducted a literature review which included English language articles published between the years 2001to 2011. The sources were consulted Medical Literature AnalysisRetrieval System Online (Medline), Latin American Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), and Virtual Health Library (VHLBireme). For the three search descriptors were defined: Human Papillomavirus, Women and Socioeconomic profile. The final sample were 16 scientific productions that have addressed the issue at hand. Concluded that national surveys on this topic are stilling satisfactory compare dwith the relevance of the study. Revisão integrativa que objetivou sintetizar o conhecimento científico publicado em periódicos nacionais sobre mulheres portadoras do Papilomavírus Humano que é considerado o principal fator de risco para o surgimento de lesões malignas em cérvice uterina. Realizou-se um levantamento bibliográfico onde foram incluídos artigos em língua portuguesa, publicados entre os anos de 2001 á 2011. As fontes consultadas foram Medical Literatura Analysis Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Literatura Latino-Americana do Caribe em Ciência da Saúde (LILACS), Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS- Bireme). Para a busca três descritores foram definidos: Papilomavírus Humano, Mulher e Perfil socioeconômico. A amostra final foi de16 produções científicas que abordaram o tema em questão.
