The subjects of this study were crowded in the unit, total four (04). The data were collected through semistructured interview with Protocol containing four (04) questions. The data were analysed and described in thematic categories and sub-categories. This process emerged two (02) categories: i. "formal education: foundations for the development of professional practice" and II. "Professional practice: clashes in the everyday life of the basic attention" and four (04) subcategories: "the process of teaching in academic training", "contribution of academic training to professional practice", "difficulties for professional performance" and "ways to improve professional performance." The results made it possible to note that even with a change in the formation of the professional Nurse, yet one senses the presence of a traditional education in performance of this professional in the basic attention. It is therefore concluded that with the increasing changes in the globalized world and accelerated scientific and technological modernization process, the Formal Education serves as an important tool for the formation of the professional Nurse, contributing positively to performance of this in society. And yet, have been required a professional generalist, critical and reflective, such teaching model come suffering even today, interference of teaching process traditionalist. O estudo tem por objetivo desvelar os reflexos da educação formal na prática da enfermeira na atenção básica. A metodologia utilizada versa sobre pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo estudo de caso. O cenário da pesquisa foi uma Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS), localizada em um bairro do município de Belém-Pará. Os sujeitos deste estudo foram enfermeiras lotadas na Unidade, total de quatro (04). A coleta de dados foi realizada através de entrevista semi-estruturada com protocolo contendo quatro (04) perguntas. Os dados foram analisados e descritos em categorias e subcategorias temáticas. Desse processo emergiram duas (02) categorias: I. “Educação formal: bases para o desenvolvimento da prática profissional” e II. “Prática profissional: enfrentamentos no cotidiano da atenção básica” e quatro (04) subcategorias quais sejam: “O processo de ensino na formação acadêmica”, “Contribuição da formação acadêmica para prática profissional”, “Dificuldades encontradas para atuação profissional” e “Formas de melhorar a atuação profissional”. Os resultados possibilitaram constatar que mesmo com toda uma mudança na formação do profissional Enfermeiro, ainda percebe-se a presença de uma educação tradicionalista na atuação deste profissional na Atenção Básica. Conclui-se, portanto, que com as crescentes mudanças no mundo globalizado e acelerado processo de modernização científica e tecnológica, a Educação Formal serve como ferramenta importante para a formação do profissional Enfermeiro, contribuindo positivamente para atuação deste na sociedade.
