Resumo:
Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death in Brazil and worldwide. In the region of Belém, this phenomenon has been worsening in recent years due to the increase in the fleet of vehicles, especially motorcycles, with about 23.4 accidents per day in 2018. Within this context, the objective of this work is to characterize the traffic accidents in Belém, thus making it possible to map the critical points with the greatest number of occurrences, severity and gravity of the city in 2018. The information present in this study was obtained from the database of the Integrated Center of Operations of Pará (CIOP/PA) and treated through the use of statistical analysis and georeferencing software and tools. Among the main results analyzed, we highlight the critical values in relation to: i) Day of the week: Friday; ii) Timetable: from 6:00 p.m. to 8:59 p.m.; (iii) Type of accident: "property damage only"; iv) Neighborhood: Marco; v) Via: Avenida Augusto Montenegro; vi) Index of accidents by extension of the road: Avenues Nazaré and Tavares Bastos; and, vii) Crossing: Rodovia Augusto Montenegro x Avenida Independência. It can be seen, therefore, that the objective of the work was reached once the critical places of traffic accidents were identified from the characterization and mapping of the traffic accidents that occurred in the city of Belém in 2018.
