Resumo:
Analyzed the possible impact of reduced soil moisture on the mortality rate experimental plant at the site of the project ESECAFLOR / LBA (01 ° 42 '30''S and 51 ° 31' 45''W), located on National Forest of Caxiuanã, Scientific Station Ferreira Penna, municipality of Melgaço, Pará The experiment ESECAFLOR / LBA is the partial exclusion of rainwater in an area of 1 hectaere, to study the possible consequence of reduced soil moisture in the forest cycle, something similar to the el nino effect. This experiment consists of two plots of 1 hectare each, and a control (A) and one of exclusion (B), which are carried out simultaneous measurements since the beginning of 2001. It was used in this study of mortality data for both vegetable plots, computed from January 2005. The results showed that the mortality rate in the total B share was 63.7% higher than in the plot, this fact justified primarily by the death of large trees. This behavior is linked directly with the drastic exclusion of rainwater in part B, providing large reduction in the availability of water in the soil, essential for the existence of the forest.
