The present work aims to present the process of museological documentation
developed with the archaeological collection of metals stored by the Museu
Paraense Emílio Goeldi, from five archaeological sites located in the municipality
of Gurupá (PA), as well as to note preliminary measures for the preventive
conservation of objects, assuming that these are material testimonies of the
history and culture of the besieged communities of Gurupá, as well as being
historical demarcators of the city. The methods used to perform the research
consisted in the creation of a list of objects, as well as the development of a
catalytic data sheet supported by Costa (2006) and Padilha (2014), considering
the primary information found on the object collection labels. As a result,
preliminary measures were developed for the preservation of the collection, as
well as reflections on the necessity of thinking about the musealization of these
assets.
