Identifying damages in fragments throughout the museological documentation enable to know the collection and adopt actions that allow the well-being to these materials and changes in laboratory practices. The diagnosis of damages was carried out through documentation of ceramics from the Ibama site (Melgaço-Pará), part of the Emílio Goeldi Museum's collection; they were selected and compared based on their morphological attributes and excavation points identified as top and bottom. The presence of certain alterations, such as cracks in the engobe layers, may be related to laboratory practices performed during curation processes. The few records of these practices, associated with a large amount of sorted materials, initiate a generalization of the collection without concern for its conservation condition. As cerâmicas são importantes vestígios que podem ser encontrados em variados contextos arqueológicos, através delas é possível compreender os processos de desenvolvimento e escolhas culturais das sociedades as quais pertencem, portanto, devem ser preservados os seus valores físicos e informacionais. Identificar os danos presentes nos fragmentos, através da documentação museológica permite que se conheça o acervo e adote ações que possibilitem o bem-estar a esses materiais e mudanças nas práticas laboratoriais. Foi realizado o diagnóstico de danos a partir da documentação de cerâmicas provenientes do sítio Ibama (Melgaço-Pará) e fazem parte do acervo do Museu paraense Emílio Goeldi; elas foram selecionadas e comparadas com base em seus atributos morfológicos e pontos de coleta, identificados como topo e base. A presença de determinadas alterações, como as fissuras nas camadas de engobo, podem estar relacionadas a práticas laboratoriais realizadas durante os processos de curadoria.
