For the practical application of the teaching of rational numbers, using instruments of metrology is applied in a class of elementary school in which the teacher has already explained about the rational numbers or is explaining, with the purpose of showing in practice, where and how rational numbers are used, in a more concrete way, with the materials in hand, also to stimulate the teacher to bring concrete materials to the classroom and that the student can manipulate it, to try to facilitate the student's learning. This practice occurred in a State School of Elementary Education located in the municipality of Barcarena / Pa with a group of the 8th year in two moments. At the first moment a kind of knowledge test was done, on the rational numbers through a test questionnaire with 5 questions and soon after delivering the test questionnaire, the part of the test was done on the whiteboard for all as form of revision and at the end was marked the second moment for the application of rational numbers with the use of metrology instruments. In the second moment the measuring instruments were presented to the students: the graduated ruler, the measuring tape and the caliper. Students were given the information contained in each instrument and how they should be used, focusing on the presence of rational numbers and also how these numbers are perceived and inserted in the daily life of those who work using these instruments more concretely using the equipment in question. hands of the students themselves, which most of them did not know. At the end they answered another test questionnaire, now using the instruments at hand, and that the results of the test questionnaires is recorded in this work, with a great satisfaction of learning and interest of the students. Este trabalho trata de mostrar uma aplicação dos números racionais em uma área que algum estudante do ensino fundamental ou médio possa querer atuar no futuro - metrologia - conhecendo alguns de seus instrumentos, que são muitos utilizados por trabalhadores que atuam na mecânica e na construção civil, como a régua graduada, a trena e o paquímetro e que nestes instrumentos pode-se perceber a utilização dos números racionais, na forma de uma fração impropria e irredutível e não somente na forma de números inteiros que são mais comuns no dia a dia da maioria das pessoas. Para aplicação de forma concreta do ensino dos números racionais, utilizando instrumentos da metrologia faz-se aplicação em uma turma do ensino fundamental em que o professor já tenha explicado sobre os números racionais ou esteja explicando, com objetivo de mostrar na prática, onde e como são utilizados os números racionais, de certa forma mais concreta, com os materiais em mãos, também para estimular o professor a trazer materiais concretos para sala de aula e que o aluno posso manuseá-lo, para tentar facilitar o aprendizado do aluno. Esta prática ocorreu em uma Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental localizado no município de Barcarena/Pa com uma turma do 8º ano em dois momentos. No primeiro momento fez-se uma espécie de teste de conhecimentos, sobre os números racionais através de um questionário-teste com 5 questões e logo após entregarem o questionário-teste, foi feita a resolução da parte do teste, no quadro branco para todos como forma de revisão e ao final marcou-se o segundo momento para aplicação dos números racionais com o uso dos instrumentos da metrologia. No segundo momento foi apresentado aos alunos os instrumentos de medição: a régua graduada, a trena e o paquímetro. Repassou-se aos alunos as informações contidas em cada instrumento e como devem ser utilizados, focando a presença dos números racionais e ainda, como esses números são percebidos e inseridos no cotidiano de quem trabalha usando estes instrumentos de forma mais concreta com uso dos equipamentos em mãos dos próprios discentes, da qual a maioria não conhecia.
