Resumo:
With the increasing use of wireless networks in a variety of environments, and with the strong investment of the automotive industry in device vessels capable of transmitting information that increases traffic safety and efficiency, several studies are being developed in this direction. However, due to the high cost and low availability of devices compatible with the IEEE 802.11p standard, most work involving VANETs (Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks) is performed in a simulation environment. The present work presents a comparative analysis of the performance of the IEEE 802.11p and IEEE 802.11g standards in the video transmission so that it is possible to identify the behavior of both in a V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) scenario aiming at a better cost-benefit and a new connectivity option. For this, the network scenarios were simulated using the Network Simulator 2 - NS-2 tool, and obtained the Peak to Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), SSIM (Structural SIMmilarity) and VQM (Video Quality Metric) metrics of the MSU Video Quality Measurement Tool, which were confronted by both standards, showing us which one showed the best performance.
