Therefore, the relevance of the work is to consider that through the experiments in science classes the student begins to consider this discipline from another perspective, which provides a meaning in his study. In order to reach this proposal, the methodology of qualitative characteristic was adopted, which through bibliographic researches, consultations to academic papers related to the theme and application of questionnaires addressed to the teachers of natural sciences, served as reference for the development of the study. The locus of the research was Frei Carmelo elementary school, located in Cataiandeua, a rural community in the municipality of Abaetetuba. In this way, it was possible to verify that the experimentation should present, in its procedure, a sense for the students, that is to pass through the knowledge that the student already presents in order to be successful in the process of teaching and learning. Com o objetivo de estudar a relevância da experimentação no ensino de ciências, sob a ótica da aprendizagem significativa, teoria desenvolvida por David Ausubel, o presente trabalho destaca que o aluno por ser seletivo não se interessa por atividades que não lhe chame atenção, o que influencia de maneira negativa no processo de ensino e aprendizagem. Por isso, a relevância do trabalho consiste em considerar que por meio das experimentações nas aulas de ciências o aluno passa a considerar essa disciplina sob outra ótica, o que proporciona um significado em seu estudo. Para alcançar essa proposta, foi adotada a metodologia de característica qualitativa, que por meio de pesquisas bibliográficas, de consultas a trabalhos acadêmicos relacionados ao tema e aplicação de questionários direcionados aos professores de Ciências naturais, serviram de referência para o desenvolvimento do estudo. O lócus da pesquisa foi a escola de ensino fundamental Frei Carmelo, localizada no Cataiandeua, comunidade rural do município de Abaetetuba.
