This study had the object of research the educational experiences in the practice of capoeira in Abaetetuba. The objectives of the research are to draw an analysis that seeks to identify in capoeira its ritual and educational aspects and its historical trajectory in the context of Brazilian culture, relating it to the reality of capoeira in Abaetetuba. The theoretical framework of the research is composed by the studies of Brazil (2008), Oliveira and Leal (2009) and Falcão (2004), which are the bases for constructing the historical record of capoeira; Segalen (2002) and McLaren (1991), discuss the theme of rituals and their classification, as well as the writings of Brandão (1981) and Pozenato (2003), authors discussing educational experiences as well as others. The research methodology is descriptive and the approach is qualitative, based partly on ethnography. The instruments of data collection were semi-structured interviews and field observation. The results of the research revealed that capoeira has ritual characteristics in its songs sung during the roda, in its instruments, berimbau touches and in its game. The results also showed that capoeira has several educational experiences occurring in its practices. The lyrics of the songs and the movements performed during the game are examples of this, since they transmit values, knowledge, experiences and have an emancipatory and conscientious character, they form citizens and exercise a political work for the social transformations. This study came to the conclusion that capoeira is a multidimensioned practice, which has a great symbolic load and cultural value for the Abaetetubense population. It was also concluded that the cultural, ritual and educational dimensions of capoeira are closely linked, since this cultural practice is formed by rites and educational experiences, and educational experiences take place through the rite. |
