Resumo:
The city of Belém has shown an increase in its fleet of motor vehicles in recent years, jumping from 192,001 vehicles in 2006 to 451,776 vehicles in 2018, and one consequence is the increase in the number of accidents on certain roads. Among the highways that record these accentuated numbers is Pedro Miranda Avenue, which in recent years has received the installation of traffic lights in order to rationalize traffic, increasing safety, convenience and fluidity. Nevertheless, the avenue obtained the highest severity index in traffic accidents in Belém, according to CIOP / PA data. In this context, the objective of this work was to study the traffic light structure of the entire avenue, checking whether or not it was in accordance with the criteria defined by traffic legislation, and thus to verify whether there is a relationship between the traffic light structure of the avenue and the number of traffic lights. accidents and their degree of severity. As a method of this work was made the enumeration of all traffic lights and their respective focus groups, identified one, and after that a checklist was elaborated about the presence and regularities of the installed traffic lights. The results obtained through the collection of these data were grouped and showed that all focus groups have irregularities regarding their structure and positioning on the road, in disagreement with the current legislation. The absence of approach secondary focus groups (70.73%), structural elements such as bulkheads (51.22%) and irregular distances for horizontal signaling as retention line (46.34% for main focus groups and 97.56% for secondary) are the most frequent irregularities that, most probably, are directly related to the causes of accidents that occur on the avenue. The most critical semaphore intersection found was the CS-08 intersection (Av. Pedro Miranda with Tv. Humaitá), which has two of the most irregular focus groups GF-31 (Av. Pedro Miranda with Tv. Humaitá side lane Center Neighborhood) and GF-33 (Av. Pedro Miranda with Tv. Humaitá central lane towards Center Neighborhood). The crossing with the least amount of problems was the CS01 (Av. Pedro Miranda with Av. Doutor Freitas), whose focus groups have between 56% and 64% of correctly installed structures.
