With the intention of understanding the processes that involve literacy, the present work results in presenting the possibilities and limits about an educational practice of literacy, of a Municipal teaching institution of the metropolitan region of Belém, Pará. Develops through a qualitative, participant observation approach, with direct link to the Institutional Program of Initiation Scholarships (Pibid), in which the present author was trainee during the period of 1 year and 6 months. Since then, literacy activities have been developed with the students of the 2nd year of elementary school I, through the PPA (Pedagogical Support Project for Children with Learning Difficulties), in which it is carried out through the post-constructivist conception of the group GEEMPA (Study Group on Education, Research Methodology and Action). When analyzing the activities around the children's writings, we note the power that involves this work, however, the limit that occurs in this practice, as in any other pedagogical teaching practice, should not be dissociated. Therefore, to study, to understand, to analyze a vision of teaching is to delve into its theory and pedagogical practice, to reflect on the meeting of practice and theory and to reformulate ideas. O ato inicial da aprendizagem da leitura e escrita é um processo que envolve diversas concepções teóricas e metodológicas, que visam alcançar a alfabetização dos estudantes do ensino fundamental. Com a intenção de compreender os processos que envolvem o ato de alfabetizar, o presente trabalho apresenta as possibilidades e limites acerca de uma prática educacional de alfabetização, de uma instituição Municipal de ensino da região metropolitana de Belém, do Pará. A pesquisa se desenvolve por meio de uma abordagem qualitativa, de observação participante, com ligação direta ao Programa Institucional de Bolsas de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID), no qual a presente autora foi estagiária durante o período de 1 ano e 6 meses. Desse modo, foi desenvolvido as atividades de alfabetização com os alunos do 2º ano do ensino fundamental I, através do PPA (Projeto de Apoio Pedagógico às Crianças com Dificuldades de Aprendizagens), no qual realiza-se por intermédio da concepção pós-construtivista do Grupo de Estudos sobre Educação, Metodologia da Pesquisa e Ação (GEEMPA). Ao analisar as atividades em torno das escritas infantis nota-se a potência que envolve esse trabalho, entretanto não deve ser desvincular o limite que ocorre nessa prática, como em qualquer outra prática pedagógica de ensino.
