The problem in the acquisition of reading and writing in the early years is a challenge to be overcome by teachers, always concerned with working teaching methodologies, which facilitate the level of appropriation of students. Its general objective is to analyze the factors by which students find difficulties in the process of reading and writing acquisition in the early and specific years describe the factors that contribute to the emergence of difficulties in the process of reading and writing acquisition and identify teaching practices for better contribute to this acquisition process. The research is of a qualitative approach, with bibliographic nature (SEVERINO, 2013), supported by the theoretical contributions of Smolka (1989), Cafieiro (2005), Souza (2013) in the conceptual plane of reading and writing; about the factors that contribute to the difficulties in student acquisition, Brazil (2012), Franchi (2012), Silva (2004) and Salmeron (2013). As a result, the study indicates that there are many factors that cause difficulties in the process of acquisition of reading and writing of students in the early years, but that they are more due to causes of social and family nature. However, this study also showed that there are different teaching practices that will facilitate this process. O presente artigo aponta para as dificuldades de aquisição da leitura e escrita dos alunos nos anos iniciais. A problemática na aquisição da leitura e escrita nos anos iniciais se constitui num desafio a ser vencido pelos docentes, sempre preocupados em trabalhar metodologias de ensino, que facilitem o nível de apropriação dos alunos. Tem por objetivo geral analisar os fatores pelos quais os alunos encontram dificuldades no processo de aquisição da leitura e escrita nos anos iniciais e específicos descrever os fatores que contribuem para o aparecimento das dificuldades no processo de aquisição da leitura e escrita e identificar práticas docentes para melhor contribuir nesse processo de aquisição. A pesquisa é de abordagem qualitativa, de cunho bibliográfico (SEVERINO, 2013), sustentada nos aportes teóricos de Smolka (1989), Cafieiro (2005), Souza (2013) no plano conceitual de leitura e escrita; acerca dos fatores que concorrem para as dificuldades na aquisição dos alunos, Brasil (2012), Franchi (2012), Silva (2004) e Salmeron (2013). Como resultado, o estudo sinaliza que são muitos os fatores que causam dificuldades no processo de aquisição da leitura e escrita dos alunos nos anos iniciais, mas que estes são mais decorrentes de causas de natureza social e familiar.
