As a specific objective, to present reflections with the intention of improving record management, based on problems found in relation to the classification attributed to the records coming from these pro-rectors. The methodology is exploratory and descriptive, bibliographical and documentary, and will have as a case study the analysis of records classification and the influence on record management in PROAD and PROGEP of UFPA. For the data collection, a survey was applied to archivists and science archival iterns who work in the aforementioned pro-rectors. It has been found that improper classification results in the inadequate archiving of documents at an intermediate stage and then an ineffective evaluation of documentary custody, possibly compromising the organization of the collection due to the disorderly accumulation of documents and the difficulties in locating the information. The present research also intends to contribute to the discussion in the scope of university archives, especially related to the construction of classification instruments and its application, analysis of the record management, and solution of possible problems. O presente Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso tem como objetivos gerais, a compreensão dos aspectos da classificação dos documentos no Protocolo Geral da Universidade Federal do Pará - UFPA e que posteriormente são recolhidos aos arquivos setoriais da Pró-Reitoria de Administração - PROAD e Pró-Reitoria de Desenvolvimento e Gestão de Pessoal - PROGEP da UFPA, e possíveis influências na gestão documental no âmbito dos arquivos setoriais destas unidades. Como objetivo específico, apresentar reflexões com o intuito de melhorias na gestão documental, a partir de problemáticas encontradas em relação à classificação atribuída aos documentos provenientes destas pró-reitorias. A metodologia é de caráter exploratória e descritiva, bibliográfica e documental, e terá como estudo de caso a análise da classificação de documentos e a influência na gestão documental na PROAD e PROGEP da UFPA. Para o levantamento de dados foi aplicado um questionário aos arquivistas e estagiários de Arquivologia que atuam nas pró-reitorias supracitadas. Verificou-se que a prática de uma classificação inadequada implica no arquivamento inadequado dos documentos em fase intermediária e posteriormente uma avaliação dos prazos de guarda documental de forma ineficaz, o que possivelmente comprometerá a organização do acervo, devido ao acúmulo desordenado de documentos e as dificuldades em localizar a informação.
