This quantitative approach research was conducted in the year 2017 aiming at identifying the college dropout rate of the students enrolled in the regular period classes between 2011 and 2013 in the Altamira Campus. As a data collection method we adopted the analyses of the enrollments lists provided by the Integrated System of Management of Academic Activities (SIGAA) and the diploma pages made available in the Academic Office of the Campus. The data was analyzed through descriptive statistic technique. It was identified that dropouts occurs in all the courses investigated, the lowest index was 2.9%, and the highest 30% were presented by the Licentiate in Biological Sciences course for incoming students in the years of 2013 and 2011 respectively. The average dropout rate for the seven courses ranged from 11.5% to 18.3%. The campus dropout rate for this period was 14.5%. It was found a high rate of students who did not complete their courses in the regular period, about 42.5%. |
