This work aims to analyze the phenomenon of the placement of clitic pronouns in the work “Brasileirismos de colocação de pronomes - Resposta ao Sr. Candido de Figueiredo” (1908), by Paulino de Brito, in the context of the national language. As specific objectives for this, we seek to make a study about the life of Paulino de Brito and its importance for education in Brazil/Pará; understand the historical and linguistic contexts of “Brasileirismos”; to understand the phenomenon of the placement of clitic pronouns under the descriptive and prescriptive aspects and to analyze, under the grammatical and linguistic aspects, the phenomenon of the placement of clitic pronouns in the form of Brazilian speaking in the work “Brasileirismos”. This research is based on the concepts of, Duarte (2018, 2021), Orlandi (2001, 2002), Said Ali (2008, 1908), Bechara (2009), Cegalla (2008) and Bagno (2012). For the development of this work, bibliographic and documentary researches were carried out. The phenomenon of pronoun placement in Portuguese is a historical discussion about the ways of speaking Brazilian. In Pará, Paulino de Brito raises several questions on the subject at the beginning of the 20th century. This discussion went through the 21st century as a very controversial subject. The analyses carried out in this research attest that the placement of proclisis at the beginning of a statement is recurrent in Brazilian Portuguese, which would win the argument of Paulino Brito, being precisely this way of historicizing the BP clitic, including its approach in contemporary linguistic studies.
