Resumo:
This course conclusion work aimed to analyze the participation of the Marupaúba community in the Florência Inglis de Paiva Municipal School, in order to identify how the democratic management process has been built in the school and as specific objectives to identify the guiding principles of participatory and democratic management of the school; describe how community participation takes place in the management of the Florência Inglis de Paiva School, propose actions that should be developed to improve community participation in the researched school. As methodological procedures, we used the qualitative research of the case study type, having as reference (LUDKE and ANDRÉ, 1986) and Moresi et al (2003). The information collection instruments were organized in the following approaches; bibliographical research, document analysis and interview with application of questionnaires with open questions. (9) subjects were interviewed: manager, pedagogical coordinator, 2 teachers, 2 students, 1 student's mother, 1 community health agent and 1 community leader. From the data collected, the results presented allow us to infer that the interviewees are not aware of the different meanings of participation. For most, participation is limited to being present in school spaces. However, it cannot be said that in the researched school there is no participation. There is, therefore, a need to discuss among school professionals, as well as the entire community, what really means participation, and thus, together, build a strong partnership with the objective of promoting quality education, contributing to the good of all, based on management with guiding principles of democratic management.
