The present work, it is an article for the conclusion of the course, entitled "The
accessibility of wheelchair users in bodybuilding gyms" which uses a qualitative
methodology, with data collection from theoretical reference research and articles on
the theme and the context in which it is inserted, regarding the deficiencies such as
which weight training is allowed in view of clinical limitations, engineering rules of the
buildings to which they are installed as gyms and if in fact, if necessary, they are able
to receive people with disabilities (PwD) and finally the report of FS, 43 years old,
swimming champion, with paraplegia of the lower limbs caused by a car accident,
going to gyms, who found in physical activity the motivation to live and was able to
elucidate the lived in a weight training gym with his wheelchair.It can be concluded
that the wheelchair user still encounters some type of barrier, be it architectural or
professional, to acess to physical exercise.
