Resumo:
This study analyzes the Emergence of the Normal School: Stories and Memories about Teacher Training and Ethnic-Racial Relations in Bragança-PA, from 1938 to 1960. It questions the proposals for teacher training and the ethnic-racial relations from the emergency of the Normal School. It uses written and iconographic sources to understand the process of teacher training as a strategy for local development, as well as the absence of ethnic-racial relations in the proposal of education and teacher training of Dom Eliseu Maria Coroli. Methodologically, it is based on the qualitative approach and is characterized by historical-educational research from the perspective of New History (BURKE, 1997). The main results reveal a diversity of historical sources related to the process of teacher training at the Dom Eliseu Maria Coroli Memorial, from the Instituto Santa Teresinha-IST, in Bragança-PA. We concluded that the ethnic-racial issue was not part of the proposal for education and teacher training established by Dom Eliseu Maria Coroli for the city of Bragança-PA – as it had occurred in the entire State of Pará – remaining absent in the political-educational debate and, consequently, in the curricular and formative proposals for the training of teachers in the Bragança region.
