Thus, motivated by the question: What factors can be limiting the teaching of Mathematics with regard to trigonometry in a practical approach? This study aimed to expose results of a teaching experience in relation to the teaching and learning process of Mathematics, with regard to the practice of trigonometry. To this end, it aimed to develop educational activities to minimize limitations; and, link theoretical mathematics to everyday practice. The 9th grade class was selected, and participant observations were applied for two months. Students' simulations were analyzed during the research period, in order to consider their greatest difficulties in mathematics. In parallel to the investigation, a bibliographic collection on mathematical teaching and learning was consulted. The results were compiled, reaching the conclusion that the practical classes together with the theoretical classes end up causing a good development in the performance of the competence, the students' abilities helping in positive learning results. It was confirmed with this study, that there is a need for practices to be rethought in order to overcome challenges, whether they are external or internal to the school. O ensino da Matemática não compreende tarefa fácil, professores de todos os níveis de ensino apresentam um quadro bastante similar no sentido do desafio no envolvimento do aluno no processo de aprendizagem, para além da memorização de fórmulas. Assim, motivado pela indagação: Que fatores podem ser limitantes do ensino da Matemática no que tange a trigonometria numa abordagem prática? Este estudo objetivou expor resultados de uma experiência docente em relação ao processo de ensino e aprendizagem da Matemática, no que tange a prática da trigonometria. Para tanto, visou desenvolver atividades pedagógicas para minimizar as limitações; e, vincular a matemática teórica à prática do cotidiano. Foi selecionada a turma de 9º ano, e nesta foram aplicadas observações participantes durante dois meses. Foram analisados os simulados dos alunos durante o período da pesquisa, de modo a considerar suas maiores dificuldades em Matemática. Paralelo a investigação foi consultada um acervo bibliográfico sobre ensino e aprendizagem matemática. Os resultados foram compilados, chegando-se a conclusão que as aulas práticas juntamente com as aulas teóricas acabam ocasionando um bom desenvolvimento no desempenho da competência, habilidades dos estudantes auxiliando em resultados positivos na aprendizagem.
