Malaria is recognized as a serious health problem in a world, and approximately 40% of population are exposed to the risk to become ill with malaria, in most of 100 countries. According to World Health Organization (WHO), bettwen 300 to 500 million of new cases are registred and one million of deads in a year. In Brazil, the illness still have an high risk of transmission in the Amazonia Legal region, wich the social, economic and enviroment conditions contribute to the increasing of Anopheles reproduction. The present work aims to analyze the profile of the 26 patients affected with malaria in João de Barros Barreto University Hospital (HUJBB) in the period of january 2005 to december 2006. For such, an evaluation questionary was elaborated where they had been compared the gender, age, ocupation origin (hospital or city), most probabbly infeccion places, the infectant form, signals, simptons ane specfical quimiotherapy. The results allowed conclude that: the age band more affected were children from 0 to 10 years old (38,09%), with the predominance of male gender (57,70%). The majority of cases were from small cities of the State of Pará (61,82%). The Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium falciparum were the most present form in this study (47,61%) to each one. Fever was present in all pacients, then cold (66,66%) livermegaly (47,61%) and splenomegaly (47,61%). The most used quimiotherapy were composed by primaquine + cloroquine (42,85%) and quinine + clindamicin (19,04%). However, the decreasing of the cases between 2005 and 2006, the malaria is an important desease tha should be under control.
